In a significant effort to enhance global collaborations in critical mineral research, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), part of the Ministry of Science & Technology, has formalized two Joint Declarations of Intent (JDIs) with prominent Russian organizations.

The strategic agreements were formalized with the State Research and Design Institute of the Rare Metal Industry (JSC Giredmet), connected to the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom, and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST MISIS) in Moscow. These collaborations focus on improving teamwork in advanced mineral processing and sustainable resource development.

Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT, executed two JDIs—one with Dr. Andrei I. Golinei, Director of the Chemical Technology Unit at JSC Rosatom Science, and the other with Dr. Michael R. Filonov, Vice-Rector of NUST MISIS. The initiatives are under the coordination of Dr. Kali Sanjay, Chief Scientist and Head of Business Development at CSIR-IMMT, working closely with Dr. Konstantin V. Ivanovskikh, Deputy Director for Science and Innovation at Giredmet JSC, and Dr. Korotchenko Natalia, Director of the MISIS Information and Marketing Centre.

Anoop Kumar Srivastava, Counsellor (Space) at the Embassy of India in Moscow, voiced his endorsement for the increasing Indo-Russian partnership in essential mineral technologies.

After the signing, the CSIR-IMMT team, featuring Dr. Ramanuj Narayan and Dr. Kali Sanjay, visited Vinay Kumar, the Indian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, at the Indian Embassy in Moscow. The meeting organized by Srivastava, emphasized the significance of R&D collaborations in process metallurgy, particularly regarding essential minerals crucial for achieving the national goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
