Bajaj Finance, an NBFC company, and Bharti Airtel announced a strategic alliance to develop a digital platform for financial services. The unique collaboration combines Airtel's 370 million customers, a distribution network of approximately 1.2 million, with Bajaj Finance's varied portfolio of 27 offerings and its extensive reach of over 5,000 branches and 70,000 field agents, according to a joint announcement.
Airtel will first provide Bajaj Finance's retail financial products via its Airtel Thanks App for a smooth and secure customer experience, and subsequently through its extensive network of stores across the country, it announced. The collective power of the companies' digital resources will allow Airtel and Bajaj Finance to greatly enhance the reach of financial products and services, it stated.
Gopal Vittal, vice chairman and MD, Bharti Airtel, said, "today, we are trusted by over 1 million customers and our vision is to make Airtel Finance a one-stop shop for all the financial needs of our customers."
According to Bajaj Finance MD Rajeev Jain, India's digital landscape has been central to data-driven credit assessment and financial inclusion, and the collaboration with Airtel not only utilizes India's digital framework for inclusive development but also combines the expertise and reach of two of the country's top and most-trusted brands.
