Bharti Airtel introduced an AI-enabled technology that detects and blocks malware websites across all communication and Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms such as emails, browsers, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram and SMS in real time.
The telecom operator said that the service will be auto-enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers as part of their service, at no additional cost. Currently the service is available in the Haryana circle, with plans for full rollout across India soon.
“We believe this will provide our customers total peace of mind while browsing the internet without the worry of getting scammed. Our AI based tool scans internet traffic, checks with global repositories and our own database of threat actors in real-time and blocks fraudulent websites. Our solution has already reached a remarkable level of accuracy in the 6 months of trials. We will continue working relentlessly until we have made our networks completely safe from spam and scam,” said Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel.
Airtel stated that if a customer attempts to access a website deemed malicious by Airtel’s advanced security engine the page will be blocked from loading, and the user will be redirected to a page explaining the reason for the block.
Recognizing the growing threat of cyber scams and online fraud, Airtel has developed an AI-powered, multi-layered intelligence platform to protect users against digital threats. The platform will deploy sophisticated threat detection and domain filtering technologies to block harmful link activity across devices and platforms.
